A big night of ratings with the much anticipated Lost finale!

The island epic (and it’s controversial ending) scored a 5.8 in 18-49 and averaged 13.5 million viewers. That’s good – but not a huge amount more than the season 6 premiere and on par with other recent (and less hyped) finales such as Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. ABC will be happy – but hardly thrilled – by the results.

Meanwhile The Celebrity Apprentice finale was watched by an average of 9.4 million viewers and earned a 3.4. That’s up on last year’s Joan Rivers finale and almost 50% up versus last week’s ratings. For a show that was technically dead a few years ago there’s still a lot of life left in the Apprentice format.

Meanwhile the Fox animation block (The Simpsons, The Cleveland Show, Family Guy) were roughly in the 4-6 million range – but did decent demo numbers comparable to their ratings. While CBS screened Brooks and Dunn: The Last Rodeo – earning more viewers than Celebrity Apprentice but measly 18-49 numbers. Hardly a surprise…
