OK Go and The Muppets

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this one!

Check out what happens when indie video stars OK Go hook up with the Muppets and take on the The Muppet Show‘s iconic opening theme…

I’m certainly a fan of OK Go’s music videos – and performances – which are often fascinating, devilishly clever and a breath of fresh air on the music scene. However, I have to say the group’s visuals are often a heck of a lot better than their songs, which tend to be rather unmemorable and frankly kind of dirge-like to me!

Now the group have teamed up with The Muppets as part of a new music project called Muppets: The Green Album, whereby contemporary music acts take on ‘classic’ Muppet songs. Joining OK Go on the album are The Fray, Matt Nathanson and Weezer. Yep, we’re talking the real big guns here!

The OK Go / Muppets video is great fun – riffing off classic Muppet TV show moments and old OK Go video moments. The song itself – umm, well let’s just say I don’t think it’ll be replacing the original anytime soon. Just think of the fun a DJ like David Guetta or Paul Oakenfold could have had with the track instead. Bit of a missed opportunity methinks…

Anyway – turn the sound down and enjoy the video. With the new Muppet movie on the way I think we’re going to be getting a whole lot of Muppet mania in the weeks to come!
