The Walking Dead: Finale Fireworks!
Nov 28th
Okay – now it all makes sense!
After a somewhat painful second ‘season’ (I know, we’re only halfway through), where at times it felt as though we the viewers were half dead ourselves, The Walking Dead roared back to life last night with one of the show’s best ever episodes – and an amazing finale scene.
You know the sequence in question – the final five minutes of the Fall season finale in which our team of survivors, led by the increasingly hardened Shane, released the Walkers in the barn and shot them dead in front of an aghast Hershel. But it was the final touching shot of long lost Sophia exiting the barn that carried the most power. Though we barely knew her as a character, it was shocking to watch Rick shoot the bewildered Sophia in the head, casting a whole new light on the Season 2 episodes so far.
Before They Were Big: Megan Mullally’s McDonald’s Commercial
Oct 20th
Yesterday, over at the Huffington Post I spotted a fun feature looking at celebrities who’ve starred in McDonalds commercials – including Michael J Fox, Julianna Margulies and Christopher Meloni…
But check out the most amusing advert of the bunch – former Will and Grace star Megan Mullally shilling for the burger giant back in 1983!
Megan would have been about 25 at the time and is still instantly recognizable, with that squeaky voice that would eventually morph into the high pitched Karen Walker.
I’m a big Megan fan and think she’s been criminally wasted since her Will and Grace heyday on shows like Party Down and In the Motherhood. And let’s not even talk about that butter commercial! Someone please get Megan a starring role in a worthy 2012 Fall sitcom – she totally deserves it…
In the meantime check out Megan in action… oh and as an added bonus, look out for a young John Goodman in his pre-Roseanne days! (more…)
The Celebrity Apprentice 5: Meet The New Cast
Oct 20th
What do you do if you’re a D-list celebrity in need of a quick buck – and a brief hit of fame?
If you’re lucky you might land yourself a spot on Dancing With The Stars – which not only pays big bucks and brings in great ratings but also has the power to reinvent stars (Gilles Marini, Kirstie Alley, Joey Fatone).
Unfortunately not everyone can make it onto DWTS – they’re gotten fairly choosy over at ABC – so what’s the next best place to be? Well Celebrity Apprentice of course. The ratings are nowhere near as good (about 8 million on average compared to Dancing’s 18-20 million), and the Donald Trump show can’t resurrect your career – but hey it’s a payday. And who’s going to turn down a $50,000 fee for a few weeks work? Not these guys anyway…
Yep, the latest Celebrity Apprentice cast has just leaked and they’re the usual assortment of D-listers and desperadoes…
Quick Take: America’s Got Talent – The 2011 Final
Sep 14th
Here we are – after endless auditions, Howie vs Piers bickering, Nick Cannon’s good-natured hamminess and a whole lot of hyperbole – the America’s Got Talent finale is upon us!
As you doubtless know, 4 acts remain: lounge singer Landau Eugene Murphy Jr, glow in the dark dance act Team illuminate, teen pop group PopLyfe and shadow dance act Silhouettes. But who will the million dollar prize and a ‘headlining slot’ at Vegas?
Here’s how I think the final four will pan out…

Are LED TV’s Worth The Money?
Aug 29th
So, I’ve been hearing so much over the last couple of years about “LED TVs,” “HD Viewing,” and “LCD TV’s” and I finally had to ask myself: Are high definition televisions really that great? Is there anything that actually sets them apart from each other or from regular television sites, besides the facts that they are big and flat?
Nowadays people seem to be caring more and more about the so-called quality of their televisions. Some head to the shops to buy LED TVs from stores like Marks & Spencer, others order in massive flat screens from online electronics companies. And boy do people like to boast about their new TV’s! ‘Who wants to come over and watch the new episode of True Blood on my flat screen?”
NOT Coming To A TV Near You: The Locke And Key Trailer
Aug 25th
As you doubtless know, every year the broadcast networks shoot dozens of pilots in the first few months of the year in an effort to plan ahead for the Fall season.
Many of those shows go on to become future series. And a lot of those projects are cancelled just a few weeks later (remember last year’s Lone Star)
But every year there are also a handful of hotly anticipated series that DON’T make the cut. This time around I was surprised that the Don Johnson / Ellen Barker starrer, A Mann’s World, didn’t go to series – sounded like a lot of fun to me!
But another show that a lot of people thought would be picked up was Locke And Key, a mysterious new show for Fox that boasted quite a caliber. Locke was based on a popular series of comic books, starred hot young stars Nick Stahl and Jesse McCartney and was produced by Steven Spielberg. And yet Fox still PASSED on the show – and no other network, including The CW and ABC Family picked it up.
The full Locke And Key pilot was shown at Comic Con, doubtless to generate some interest in the project, but to no avail. The series remains unsold.

2011 Fall TV Preview: Free Agents
Aug 25th
When Does It Start: Wednesday 14th September at 10.30pm EST on NBC (before moving to its regular slot at 8.30pm)
In A Nutshell: A newly divorced dad and a single woman mourning the death of her fiancée try to move on with their dating lives…
What’s It About: Alex (Hank Azaria) and Helen (Kathryn Hahn) work in PR, are newly single and just can’t help falling into bed with one another. But while their friends encourage them to re-enter the dating world and they try to keep it professional in the workplace, their relationship continues to grow.
Based on a British sitcom of the same name, Free Agents features one of the stars of the UK version – Buffy’s Anthony Head as the company boss – is produced by the UK creator and features the same dark tone of the original. Could it be the new Office?
Cool Clip: The Glee Cast Take on David Bowie’s Fashion
Aug 24th
Obviously Glee is not overexposed in the least at the moment… and the show’s cast clearly need all the publicity they can get!
So it’s not surprising to see the Glee kids have been named as the official spokespeople for Anna Wintour’s Fashion’s Night Out – an annual event that encourages people to shop with celebrities, drink and party.
And in true Glee fashion they’ve even gone and shot a video for the event – taking on David Bowie’s Fashion – with Lea Michele on lead vocals (of course)
Rachel, Blaine and Mike get most of the screen time, Quinn sports a new shorter cut and for some reason Sam is tagging along for the ride, even though he’s no longer part of the show and probably persona non grata with Ryan Murphy! And where the heck are Mercedes and Santana???
It’s all for a good cause and should be commended – but if you were the Glee PR team, wouldn’t you want the cast doing a bit less press at the moment?
Just a thought…
