Before They Were Big: Jesse Eisenberg’s Dr Pepper Commercial
Aug 11th
It’s Before They Were Big time again – one of our most popular features here on Remote Patrolled!
Over the last couple of weeks we showcased what Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling and James Franco were all up to before they made it famous. And today’s the turn of their fellow summer movie star Jesse Eisenberg.
Jesse is starring in the new comedy 30 Minutes Or Less (or as I call it – ‘Yet Another Attempt To Make Aziz Ansari A Star’) but is of course most well known for movies like Zombieland, The Squid And The Whale and obviously The Social Network.
But back in 2001 Jesse was still a newbie to the acting scene. Check him out in action in this UK Dr Pepper commercial, hinging on the soda’s famous tag line ‘What’s The Worst That Could Happen’…
Watch the commercial and find out for yourself… it’s Jesse playing the stock ‘Jesse Eisenberg nerdy character’ (I guess Michael Cera wasn’t available) but still interesting to see the actor at age 17 finding his feet…
Enjoy! (more…)
Cool Commercial: Samsung’s Unleash Your Fingers
Jul 22nd
Here at Remote Patrolled we’re always on the lookout for cool clip and commercials to share with the world – and yesterday this pretty amazing viral campaign from France caught my eye…
The clip’s called Unleash Your Fingers and celebrates the launch of the Galaxy SII phone in France. To promote the product Samsung flew in ‘finger tutting’ phenomenon JayFunk to showcase his rather unique skills.
Seems to have worked – the video’s already been viewed over 3 million times after just a month online…
Be sure to keep watching until the 0.38 mark, where the ad gets REALLY interesting…
Cool stuff, huh? (more…)
Cool Commercial: Old Spice Goes International!
Apr 30th
Wow, Old Spice really are on a roll at the moment aren’t they.
Hot on the heels of the brand’s iconic American adverts featuring Isiaih Mustafa playing The Man Your Man Could Smell Like – check out this latest international commercial using the same concept but a different model.
The commercial is part of the new Old Spice Danger Zone campaign and features actor Neal Bledsoe (Ugly Betty) making his way through a jungle wilderness battling trucks, alligators and snakes…
It’s as slick and fun as the US campaign – so check it out below!
Cool Commercial: Little Thor
Apr 23rd
Remember that Volkswagen / Darth Vader advert that made lots of headlines a couple of months back – and was the undisputed hit of this year’s Superbowl?
Well it seems the makers of the new Thor movie want some of that good press themselves – and have created their own take on the ‘kids in costumes’ commercial. Check out what happens when this kid plays dress up and discovers new-found superhero powers!
It’s a smart advertising tactic on the part of the movie’s producers but there’s just one problem – the actual Thor movie looks terrible! Am I the only one who thinks it’s probably going to bite the box office dust? And what the heck is Natalie Portman doing slumming it in a second rate superhero movie. If you haven’t seen it yet here’s the Thor movie trailer! Judge for yourself!
And here’s the commercial – doing the rounds today!
Cool Clip: The T-Mobile Royal Wedding
Apr 17th
Okay, I don’t know about you but I’m already TOTALLY over the Royal Wedding.
With non-stop TV specials and endless Today Show segments I feel I already know more than enough about William, Kate and every little intricate detail of the wedding. I’m just glad I don’t live in England anymore, I dread to think how intense the coverage is there…
But this video, doing the viral rounds at the moment, did make me smile.
The T-Mobile team have jumped on board the wedding dance bandwagon (remember that Chris Brown video from a couple of years ago) and imagined what the Royal Wedding might look like set to music. The song is House Of Love by UK 90′s boy-band, East 17 and while the dancing is pretty borderline, the video has some good moments – especially when Charles and Camilla enter…
Check out the clip below – and let me know what you think. Plus tell me – are you as bored by all the Royal Wedding fever as I am?
Crazy Commercials: Virgin Mobile Stalker Ad
Feb 19th
Check out the latest advertising campaign for Virgin Mobile – a clear attempt to corner the bunny boiler market!
As usual Virgin’s adverts are certainly memorable and will get people talking…
Here’s the first two commercials below, featuring a couple of crazies stalking their ‘boyfriends’ via their cell phones…
They’re kind of creepy, kind of funny and definitely not your typical mobile phone advert… but will they entice you to buy a Virgin mobile…?
Enjoy!
Cool Commercial: IKEA’s Sexy Spanish Advert
Feb 8th
Check out the latest commercial for interior brand IKEA currently airing in Spain.
Somehow I have a feeling this advert WON’T be coming to America anytime soon… can you imagine the outcry from the Parents’ Television Council – they’d have a heart attack…
But of course over in Europe you can advertise a bed – and some of its other uses – and no-one gets offended…
The idea behind the spot is that IKEA’s beds are so sturdy they can handle all sorts of physical activity – and here’s the proof!
Check the spot out below…
Cool Super Bowl Commercial: Best Buy, Ozzy Osbourne and Justin Bieber!
Feb 7th
One more Super Bowl advert – and this one’s for retail chain Best Buy…
Check out Ozzy Osbourne in action, getting confused by the store’s rapidly changing technology and finding himself replaced by a younger spokesperson, Justin Bieber.
It’s a really good spot, playing off Ozzy’s recent ‘who the f*** is Justin Bieber’ interview quote. Plus great punchline at the end with Ozzy, Sharon and a heavily made up Justin. Darn, between this advert and his new, Never Say Never, single I’m actually starting to quite like BIeber…
Check the clip out below – and weigh in with your favorite Super Bowl spot…
Cool Super Bowl Commercial: Go Daddy’s New Girl – Joan Rivers
Feb 7th
Last year it was Betty White – now it’s Joan Rivers turn to get some Superbowl glory…
Check out the spot for Go Daddy, featuring Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels and race driver Danica Patrick as they introduce the new ‘it’ girl for the brand… an old face with a whole new look, Joan Rivers…
Last year’s Go Daddy advert, featuring a flamboyant gay guy called Lola, was banned – but this year the company managed to make headlines and stay on the air!
Here’s Joan in action… love her!
