Ugh – here’s the X Factor’s biggest brat, Cher Lloyd, who’s gradually morphing into Cheryl Cole mark 2.0 before our very eyes (sheesh, they even used ‘Fight For This Love’ under her pre-performance interview)
Cher is grating on me more and more each week and I can fully believe all the tabloid reports of diva behavior and bullying… plus she’s really not that great a performer… scratch that – she’s dreadful!
The singing is really, really ropey and the rapping is hideous… Cher is more like failed UK rapper Lady Sovereign (last seen stinking up the British Celebrity Big Brother house) than a potential pop star and I honestly have NO idea what the judges are thinking in their praise for her – thank goodness for Dannii (plus did you catch Cher giving Dannii the ‘stink-eye’ after her negative comments). US audiences would laugh Cher off the stage… she’s a little girl with a big, bad attitude…
Anyway – what do you think? Am I being too harsh…? Start the comments coming…
Over in England, it’s Boot Camp stage on The X Factor - and first up, here’s Cher Lloyd – the hotly tipped contestant from a few weeks back.
In case you don’t remember Cher – her original audition video is below. She’s the girl who wowed the judges with her streetwise style, covering Keri Hilson’s Turn My Swag On (Cheryl was especially impressed since she’s desperate to be seen as cool and urban)
Unfortunately Cher seems to have no real idea how to tailor her skills – and absolutely massacres Coldplay’s Viva La Vida… In my opinion, Viva is one of the best songs of the last couple of years, and the last thing it needs is a 16 year old girl rapping at the start… it’s just a train wreck!
But what do you think… Cher is the bookies favorite at the moment – even after this performance – but can she really go on to win the whole shebang? Start weighing in guys…
Hmm, here’s someone quite interesting… check out 16 year old Cher Lloyd, a fresh faced young talent with tonnes of pop star potential… but what else would you expect with a name like that!
Cher is from Malvern in Worcestershire and honestly when she started singing Keri Hilson (with a thumping bass line) I was expecting a bit of a TV train wreck… but you know, somehow Cher pulls it off.
I wasn’t crazy on the song – but I loved how Lloyd transformed from a meek 16 year old into a feisty R&B star – and the vocals hit all the right notes. Plus it’s refreshing seeing a female singer who doesn’t resort to Mariah and Whitney (or here in the US, Kelly and Carrie!). But honey, those jeans have got to go…!
I have a feeling Cher will end up going a long way in the competition… but what do you think? Start weighing in people…!
