Dancing With The Stars Goes Gay(er)!

Over here we may be talking about Bristol Palin and Jennifer Grey – but over in Israel all eyes are on this couple…. the dance competition first same sex pairing!
The celebrity is Gili Shem Tov, a lesbian sports host – and her dancing partner is called Dorit Milman. They make an interesting couple visually – mainly because Gili is so tall and statuesque – and of course they’re creating quite some controversy among Israel’s religious community… check out this news report for more (it’s a British report so mentions the show by its original UK name Strictly Come Dancing)
Personally I say good luck to them and think it’s just a shame the same hasn’t been tried over here with gay former contestants like Lance Bass. But then the US Dancing audience skews very old and, let’s be honest, very middle America. I have a feeling they wouldn’t take too kindly to such ‘same sex’ scenes on their favorite dance show… all the more reason to do it I say!

Why Everyone Has A Kate Gosselin In Their Lives
Wow, you really can’t move for Kate Gosselin coverage this week. Between competing on Dancing With The Stars, a whirlwind appearance on the Today show, the announcement of TLC’s new reality series Twist of Kate and of course the tabloid frenzy surrounding her increasingly bitter divorce from Jon – it was Kate coverage on overload.
Now Kate isn’t really the sort of ‘celebrity’ who’s normally on my radar. I don’t watch Dancing With The Stars (I have friends working on the series – but I’m afraid I’m more of an Idol type guy) and frankly I don’t really give a toss about the latest back and forth between Jon and Kate. But in today’s tabloid culture, with Kate’s tear stained face staring out from US and People magazine – you have to admit she’s pretty darn famous these days. And like a lot of people out there – Kate’s success bugs me. But not for the conventional reasons…
