Yesterday it was announced on Deadline Hollywood that the 80’s movie classic Romancing The Stone had been bought as a TV series adaptation by NBC.

The ‘new’ show will follow a successful but unfulfilled romance writer who teams with a ‘risk taking’ adventurer on a series of missions, all while trying to find her lost brother. Overseeing the series will be Shawn Levy, director of such classic movies as Just Married, Cheaper By The Dozen, the 2006 Pink Panther remake and the upcoming – and utterly horrendous looking – Real Steel (aka the boxing robots movie). To be fair to Levy he also oversaw the blockbuster Night At The Museum movies and Date Night, which I did rather like, but even so this whole project sounds alarm bells for me!
